Katie and Greg : Ski Liberty Resort Wedding at Boulder Lodge
Katie and Greg’s wedding took place at Boulder Lodge at Ski Liberty Resort.
When I met with Katie, a Business Education Teacher, and Greg, Navy/Homeland Security, they told me they wanted a wedding photo of themselves in one of the ski lift chairs! Immediately I thought, what a cool idea! They were going to use the photo for their Christmas card. Very clever !!
Katie and Greg met on Match.com and boy did they match-up. They are perfect for each other in every way and they’re both just beautiful souls. It pretty much started with a wink. They spoke on the phone for the first time on St. Patrick’s Day and made plans to have their first date the following Monday. They went to dinner at a local Mexican restaurant, La Paz, in downtown Frederick. After dinner they took a walk along the Carroll Creek Promenade to get to know each other a little better.
How they got engaged
Katie received a text message at the end of her work day, in October, letting her know she needed to come straight home from work. She arrived at the house around 3:30 as requested to find an empty house and on the sofa table there were several photos of her and Greg together surrounding an envelope marked with her name. She opened the envelope to find a note indicating that a dress had been selected and laid out for her, and that Greg would be arriving promptly at 5:00 p.m. to pick her up.
Katie called a couple of friends to try and share her excitement for what she was predicting was about to happen and then got ready to go. Greg showed up promptly at 5:00 p.m. with flowers. He had a bouquet of gerbera daisies (Katie’s favorite) and a single red rose. They both then headed out to dinner at their restaurant, Nido’s, in downtown Frederick, MD. Neither one of them really had a lot to talk about, because Greg couldn’t tell her what he had been up to all day and Katie didn’t want to ruin the moment (whenever it was coming) by talking about it. After dinner, Greg took Katie for a stroll along Carroll Creek. (The same spot they had walked when they first met). As they walked along Carroll Creek and over a stone bridge, Greg stopped on the bridge. He then began to propose and Katie began to cry. Of course she said, “YES!” After the big moment the two of them decided to get some ice cream to celebrate the occasion.
Greg shared with Katie that they had to make a stop on the way home. He had already spoken to her father to ask for his blessing before he proposed, and Greg knew she would want to go and share the moment with her parents. It was a great night and one neither of them will forget.
Here are some photos from their engagement session in Baker Park.
The wedding was beautiful and inspired by Katie’s love of dragonflies. A sign of good luck and love entering your life. Now every time I see dragonfly, I think of her! Greg got his interest of baseball incorporated too. He had a custom groom’s baseball cake and we also took some baseball themed engagement photos.
Greg and Katie honeymooned on the island of Antiqua.
Here are some of my favorites of their wedding day. You can see their entire gallery on my web site, MistiMorningstar.com under “real weddings”.
