03/05/2012
The 14th Annual Catoctin Affair will be taking place on March 23rd, at the FSK Holiday Inn Grand Ballroom.. Time: 6:30-11:30pm. Come out and show your support. There will be a live auction with lots of goodies to bid on, and we are participating in that this year by offering a FREE photo session. Also…. you won’t want to miss sampling lots of decadent food!
The Mental Health Association of Frederick County is dedicated to helping our community through education, prevention and intervention. They educate by providing information brochures and speakers to other non-profits, businesses and governmental agencies.  24 hours a day and 7 days a week, information and support is available through the 211 hotline and the crisis hotline.  Whether you need help finding a grief support group or are having suicidal thoughts, trained volunteers are always available. In 2011, the Mental Health Association received 22,239 calls for information, referral and crisis including 1,404 calls related to suicide.  They also provided 2,945 hours of therapy to 290 adults, children and families regardless of their ability to pay.
The Mental Health Association also provides counseling, supervised custody visits, childcare choices education, the Kids on the Block program, court appointed special advocates for children and more.  Mental health is an issue that impacts our communities, our families, our friends and our coworkers.“We envision a community where children can grow and thrive without fear, where good mental health is valued, where people of all ages know when and how to seek help for emotional or family problems without shame, and where everyone will have access to mental health services without barriers.”
The Catoctin Affair is the only fundraiser for the Mental Health Association and the money raised is essential for continuing these programs.
