Shannon & George : May 7, 2011

05/11/2011

This was a Greek wedding but not in the big fat way! Shannon and George’s wedding was an intimate affair with family and friends, at Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, Frederick MD with a reception following at the Comus Inn at Sugarloaf Mountain.

Shannon works in Product information at a publishing company and George is a manager for a manufacturer of commercial lawn mowers. They met by chance through a mutual acquaintance. The engagement was a surprise! George asked Shannon to marry him during a visit to Washington, D.C., where he spent a lot of time with his grandmother during his younger years. Shannon said the day was beautiful and as they walked past George’s grandmother’s home, he paused there and asked her to marry him. She said that was a day she will always remember.

Father Anastasios Kousoulas officiated the ceremony in the traditional Orthodox way. For those of you who are not familiar (there are no vows spoken by the bride and groom) the entire ceremony was spoken by Father Kousoulas in Greek and English. It was very impressive!

The wedding theme was ‘spring inspired’ with colors of yellow, green, and family creativity. The brides’ flowers were designed by En Masse Flower Market.

Shannon’s dress, by David’s Bridal, was absolutely lovely. I loved the lace detail and the two of them looked very classy.

One of the nicest touches was the harpist, Astrid, that played during the wedding ceremony. There’s just something about a harp that is so romantic.

I can’t say enough good things about The Comus Inn. Wow! Their service is top-notch and their staff is incredible. Everyone there was so organized and pleasurable to work with. Their food is also excellent and the setting is just gorgeous!

Shannon and George are such a great couple. The camera loves them and we just loved photographing their special day with their family and friends.

Here’s some of our favorite photos. You can see their entire gallery on the web site, MistiMorningstar.com under “galleries”.

This is one of my personal favorites!
